While there were a lot of features like the style, large yard, garage, and close proximity to Minnehaha Falls that drew Katie Twite and Joe Lochner to the 1923 home they recently purchased; the kitchen was not one of them. Lacking function and storage, the kitchen desperately needed to be remodeled. Partnering with AMEK Design + Build, they are very happy with how the new modern features complement the home’s natural charm and how the open space flows seamlessly into existing living areas. Having counter space and a peninsula suits the young couple who like to invite friends over for appetizers and drinks or to host family holidays. A bonus element is the creation of a drop zone between the back door and the kitchen.
