We wanted our fishbowl breezeway to become a usable space. It now has 3 areas: mudroom, equipment area, and entry. The kitchen was a maze of cabinets with heavy low soffits. We love our neighborhood and the home’s midcentury style. Our new space lets us gather, have storage, and plenty of space in the family room. Added benefit was improved heating and cooling and a high velocity system. Favorite part? The countertop to the wall!
This remodel focuses on flow within the existing space. The breezeway was ineffectively being used because it was cold, lacked organization, full of patio doors. The kitchen was a maze of cabinets with heavy low soffits. The clients love their neighborhood and midcentury style. They wanted to create a space to gather, improved storage. They also wanted to lean into the characteristics of the Midcentury Home. We started by removing 4 sliding glass doors in the mudroom and replacing them with windows so we could use the wall space better. Splitting the room up allowed for sporting gear storage, to be separated from the daily storage and creating an entry. The kitchen now features a large pantry, cleaned up ceilings, crisp lines and improved site lines from room to room. Another benefit of the remodel was a chance to improve the heating and cooling of their existing boiler and high velocity system. The clients were eager to preserve the brick and paver style tiles into the new design.
