This is our forever home. We remodeled to modernize, all while reflecting our family’s story and honoring the era of the home. The remodel incorporated a new kitchen with custom millwork and cabinetry, exposed original brick, locally reclaimed mantel on a new fireplace, beautiful light fixtures & Scottish wallpapers, 2nd floor laundry center and bathroom, new windows throughout, and a welcoming new front entry.

We loved the bones of this house.  Our goal with this remodel was to enhance everything about our home, and to make it liveable for many years to come.  We love so many things here—the millwork, the established garden, the storage space, the space overall—and it was really important to us to keep it true to its history. Instead of tearing down walls, we wanted to make the most of the existing spaces. We’d heard White Crane Design:Build specializes in older homes, and they proved to be the right team for our job. In fact, we really thought we’d need an addition to get everything we wanted, but White Crane made it happen within our existing footprint. The designers helped us upgrade every room in thehouse, but the only additions ended up being a new front porch and back deck. We’re so happy with how it turned out. It’s a really interesting mash-up of our family history, some helpful upgrades, and all the best things about what the house already was.
