Angel had a vision. This charming 1906 house renovation was all about maximizing space, enhancing flow, and honoring the home’s original character. By carefully blending modern functionality with period details, we now have a stunning and welcoming space perfect for entertaining. This carefully considered renovation resulted in a house that seamlessly blends modern comfort with classic character. Come see it for yourself!

The homeowners found us at a home show.  They started a conversation with our homeowner advisor, Bjorn. From there, the client signed a design agreement with us and I was given the project to work on!  It appealed to me because it was an older 1906 Mpls home with a lot of great woodwork detail and character.  I knew it was important to maintain the original character of the home and keep certain details like the stained glass windows and door/window molding/casing.

All of the rooms on the main level were sectioned off and it was hard to entertain guests with everyone in separate rooms.  We reconfigured the main level to open up the kitchen, living, and dining rooms for better overall function and flow.  The kitchen had an existing chimney that we removed to gain more storage space and create  a better layout, which also helped gain more space in a lower level work out room and upper level closet.  We also reconfigured the back entry and removed the front entry vestibule to make more sense with the new open plan.

“I think the project turned out great overall.  I think we achieved an updated layout and aesthetic while still maintaining a strong nod to the original architecture/style of house.  We used stained oak cabinets to tie in with the original oak trim.  We refinished the existing maple floors.  It still feels like an older unique Mpls house with a modern /updated design.”
